Tired limbs rest in garments that I don’t really need as I have more clothes than I can wear in a week. I felt one step ahead of life today. Anticipating phone calls before they happened, what a weird day. I am sure my friend Ballantyne has an explanation for that. Something about our minds taking everything in but not being able to process all the information?

How did we know we were in different time zones? I mean, who was the first person to workout that the sun rose at different times in different places? Doesn’t that bother you? What did we think before the concept of time was able to be measured? That there were lands outside of our own and that it was night time there too? Why not? Most people didn’t even have watches in the late nineteenth century anyway relying on town clocks. Time, a slave to it no? Kronos was the Greek god of time i think, who ate his own children to stop the cycle of time, life. I think that whole spirit of being a slave to time still exists no? Apart from drummers of course who seem to somehow fall in an alternate universe and are constantly out of time. That was poor and actually a knee jerk reaction as all the drummers I know are very in time, or up to the date time.

Wednesday G Force Melon And Chilli Sorbet July 30, 2008

The day opened like a fridge door, with the rubber door sealant providing all the suction to keep the door from opening. It needed a tug but washed and dressed Wednesday is here.

Moving beds from the garden to the house and the other way round. Delicious melon and chilli sorbet at luncheon. Felt the heat on my head, phew it’s hot no?

Back home and a lazy tea time with French bread and a pot of cha while the children entertain with jokes that are so far from funny that they come round to being funny again.

My first post via my iPhossle, excited and curious. It’s posting on an uber level.

Seasame street, I miss it.

Today I feel old. I used to watch the men playing football, now I am older than the vets. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not complaining its just that I am aware of my age in relation to life.

El Red today and time starved I saved a few minutes by adding to the novella.

Will Sky ever offer up a TV dinner? Or a sports drink to consume while watching? Specially designed to enhance those muscles that have sunk to the depths of the Sky Premier squashy sofa. There could be an angle. We could walk round with test cards on our stomachs, we could screen commercials on our heads saying “am i on?” Or “turn me on?” Or “I’ve got nothing on.”

Sky TV Plus Sky Sports plus free calls and flowers for the rest of your life and a couple of Malcolm’s twix bars and some navel lint I found. Come on Mr Sky, make it a challenge at least don’t just waltz in with your hypnotic snake like charm and swipe the children’s candy.

Press the red button now

Monday, pick up where we left off. It’s a long way from being a seventeen year old playing football in Hanger Hill park dreaming of last minute winners and designing products to help the world.

How I wish to be up against Paul Foote on a weekly basis. Then you’ll know you are in for a game. When I was eleven I played football with Gavin Ernstone.

I cycled, I worked, I had an Italian Ice Cream, (wafer Flavour), I worked a bit more, I cycled. I wrote a lot, I went to the gym to do a marathon rowing session. I made ciabatta, easier than plain bread. I ate pasta and ciabatta. I watch a film. I sleep.

A good friend of mine has a passport queue. I was reading it last night, it’s inspired me to read RFK’s works. Thank you Mr Joseph for everything, apparently it all comes apart later anyway.

I hold technology tightly and then loosely. Then tightly again. I can’t decide whether I love it and it actually serves to enrich my life or that I hate it and it controls my life.

Its part of modern life, and in fact, a generation below me will know a world where this level of communication has clothed them from birth.

For me, i have grown up with payphones and newspapers. The most sophisticated bit of kit in the house was the remote control followed by the toaster. The computer, (if you can call it that, not sure it wasn’t an abacus in a polymer shell) was a VIC 20 and the calculator found on the end of my casio ruler (matt black) had a larger memory. Our toy poodle had a larger memory.

Today, you can’t touch anything in the house without it having to disconnect…error…wireless connection broken. Bla bla bla. I think if all this technology was used purely for social use it would be fine but my introduction to most of it, (including MS DOS) was through my various jobs. As a result computers are the Jeckyl & Hyde of my life. One guy is an idiot, I don’t want to see his face around town again. The Hyde cat, he I have time for.

For the second Saturday in a row I ate Lamb reared locally on the farm of those serving us. All the Vegetables served were grown on their land. Philosophy, Literature, community and one of the greatest human traits ever..the ability to change. It was a very moving day. If I had a floppy hat with a feather in it and all the money I had in the world, right there in my pocket, would I have swapped it all in that moment? That’s how the story goes right? No stone though, something much more valuable.

Watched my boy run with all his might at an athletic event. Beautiful. Felt the sun on the back of my shaved head. Gorgeous. Is there anyone called Mr Watturi? Tell him the lights in the office suck the life out of me so I try to never use them.

I leave for yoghurt and a bowl of cherries. Which in fact, life is. If it isn’t it should become one.

The birds tell me its early, once you start hearing a constant supply of car engines work through first to third you know its eight am. The birds again, eleven am. In the town square, feet are dragged shutters whizz up to the roller casing and storefronts have life breathed into their product laden lungs. It moves, it wakes. It reaches for its morning coffee. It rubs its eyes. It wakes up.

I drank an ocean yesterday and woke up early and refreshed this morn. The most important foundation in my life is my family and yet I work to maintain the mortgage. Why is it so important to own a property? What security is there in this investment? What kind of life example am I giving. That life is about one bill after another? Maybe thats the case, but need I build my life around bill payments?

Freedom

Light Dark. Soft Weights. Broken Wholeness. Empty fullness.

Bored excitement. Watching a film in a minute. Can’t wait. It may change my life.

Cycled home through the most amazing scenery a new route. A new exit for Carlito?

Film was amazing, beautiful and fragile.

Its all part of a single breath no?

Carlito couldn’t find an exit sign and even if he did would he have really used it? Got a headache

today, I fear the increased amount of coffee is not doing my body any good. Two steps closer to a    return to football.

Units of time, neatly placed in order ready for the plough to drive through, part and make a path.

Its so bright that even the moon must be jealous of the sun showing off well into the early evening.

Tuesday More Bucket BBQ’s Hyperlinks and Body Boards July 22, 2008

Tuesdays are fun no?

More of an island. Too far adrift of Friday and anything to do with the weeks culmination. On the other side of the fence they are just too late to make the last call for a long weekend. Too large to squeeze through the practical European mandatory weekend. I feel for Tuesday. Eternally left out. Never the glamour of the mid week “pick me up” of a Wednesday, doesn’t have the chic metropolitan vibe of a Thursday. Neither does it poses the dual nationality of Fridays and Mondays, although week days they also masquerade as long weekends and are generally considered to be wind down or ease into it gently days.

Here is to Tuesdays. To relaxed lunches in the garden, to bucket BBQ’s on the beach to children playing with their body boards and to the global drug of choice Coca Cola.
